Search Terms
A name, place, or other detail entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. Greene County Released Inmates does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's policy governs its collection and use after the query is submitted.
Messages
If you email us or send a contact message, we keep the information needed to read and answer it. We do not share a message outside the organization unless a legal duty requires disclosure. Do not send sensitive custody, medical, financial, or identity documents through a general message.
Technical Data Received Automatically
Like most websites, the server and service providers may receive routine technical details when a page loads. These details help deliver pages, identify faults, measure use, and protect the service. They can include:
- The visitor's internet protocol address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device category and operating system.
- Pages opened and time spent on them.
- The referring website, when supplied.
- Date and time stamps for requests.

Cookies and similar tools can show how visitors use the site and help maintain useful preferences. A browser can block or remove cookies. Some site functions or partner features may then work differently or fail to retain a setting.
How Information Supports the Site
Collected data is used for limited operational purposes:

Other Sites and Advertising
Links may lead to Central Virginia Regional Jail, the Greene County Sheriff, Virginia courts, the VADOC locator, federal locators, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves, the destination's privacy notice and terms control. We do not set those sites' collection practices.
Advertising companies may use their own cookies or identifiers to measure activity across websites and select ads. That tracking takes place through their systems. Their controls and opt-out methods are governed by their own policies.

We do not sell personal information. Information may still be handled by limited parties that help operate or protect the site:
- Search partners that receive a query submitted to their tool.
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic and use.
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads.
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Measures
We use ordinary administrative and technical safeguards suited to a public website. No website, storage service, transmission method, or internet-connected system can be guaranteed secure. We therefore cannot promise that a breach, interception, loss, or unauthorized access will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor sent personal data may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the information actually held, a visitor may ask to:
- Receive a copy of personal information we maintain about that visitor.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information that is not required for a lawful purpose.
- Opt out of certain processing where that right applies.
A request may require enough information to verify identity and locate the relevant data. This policy does not create control over records kept by CVRJ, the Sheriff, courts, VADOC, or a linked provider. Requests about those records must go to their custodian.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this privacy notice as the site, vendors, or legal requirements change. The updated version becomes effective when posted here with its new effective date. Continued use after publication means the revised practices apply.
